DINO URBANI

Dino Urbani is the founder and creator of Urban Combat Systems, with over 23 years of training and teaching experience. Through his need to get back to the real reason for training in martial arts, he, along with the help of his loyal, dedicated students created a state-of-the-art offense-based self-defense system that is specifically designed for the real world. Urban Combat Systems is a sophisticated and practical system of self-defense, designed specifically to provide efficient and effective methods to avoid, defuse, confront, and neutralize both armed and unarmed attackers.

For fifteen years, UCS has shaped my outlook on life, physical development, and personal pursuits. By participating in UCS' growth as a student, assistant instructor, demonstration partner, and training partner, I have learned the many lessons necessary to navigate the rough journey from youth into manhood.

I'm extremely proud of UCS and the effectiveness and realism it brings to self-defense instruction, and am passionate about giving back to my community – particularly its youth – and empowering people to break through their fears, develop unstoppable confidence and shatter their limitations.

I am a dedicated student of UCS and of life. The study of both has proven to me that anybody is capable of transforming his life and attitudes through persistence, motivation and dedication. I'm an adherent to frequent, highly-intense training and as you train with me, you're certain to hear my favourite admonition on the path to success: “TRAIN HARD!!”

DAVE RABINOVITCH

Dave was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and first began training in reality-based combat as a student of Chu Fen Do under self-defense visionary and pioneer Tony Blauer before moving to Japan in the late 1980's. After studying Aikido in Ottawa, he was introduced to Dino Urbani, founder of Urban Combat Systems (UCS), in 2002, and has never looked back.

Dave believes that all martial arts and self-defense systems offer positive physical and psychological benefits to practitioners, and that each should be respected. His current training is centered on reality-based or “street” self-defense (both armed and unarmed), and how to avoid and survive real life threatening situations. He is honoured to be a dedicated student and instructor in the UCS family, and heads UCS’ classes at the Glebe Community Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
